Ingredients
- ⅓ cup shortening
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- ⅓ cup milk
- ⅓ cup buttermilk
How to Make It
- Preheat oven to 450°. Cut shortening into flour with a pastry blender or fork until crumbly. Add milks, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 3 or 4 times. Pat or roll dough to ¾-inch thickness; cut dough with a 2½-inch round cutter, and place dough rounds ½ inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake at 450° for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
