  • Yield: 6 Servings
  • Preparation Time: 10 Minutes
  • Cooking Time: 25 Minutes

Ingredients

For the Hamburgers
  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
For the Coleslaw
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1½ tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ medium green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • ½ medium red cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium carrots, grated
How to Make It
    To make the Hamburgers
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chuck, onion powder, seasoned salt, kosher salt, and black pepper using your hands or a wooden spoon. Be mindful not to overmix the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into six patties. Preheat a 10-inch cast-iron skillet on high heat and add the patties (three at a time to avoid overcrowding the skillet).
  3. Cook the patties until a crust forms, 2 to 3 minutes. Gently flip the burgers using a spatula. If using, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty. Continue to cook for 2 to 3 minutes for rare or medium rare; 4 to 5 minutes for more well done.
  4. Remove from the heat, place on the buns, and serve with your preferred toppings.
  5. To make the Coleslaw
  6. In a large bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, honey, salt, and black pepper. Add both cabbages and the grated carrots, and toss to coat.
  7. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator at least 1 hour, or up to 8 hours.
