Ingredients
- 200 g (7 oz/1⅔ cups) plain (all-purpose) flour
- 100 g (3½ oz/½ cup) soft brown sugar
- 75 g (2½ oz/1⅔ cups) cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 125 g (4 oz) frozen cubed butter
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup (or dark corn syrup)
- 4 tablespoons whole milk
- For the buttercream filling:
- 50 g (2 oz) skimmed milk powder
- 100 g (3½ oz/generous ¾ cup) icing (confectioner's) sugar
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 75 g (2½ oz) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon golden syrup (or dark corn syrup)
- 1 tablespoon whole milk
- pinch of salt
