These delicious Asian-inspired burgers have not one but two sauces; hot and spicy chili garlic mayonnaise and a sweet-tangy hoisin ketchup!
Ingredients
- 1 egg (lightly beaten)
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup red onion (diced)
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp Asian chili garlic sauce
- 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp powdered garlic
- 1 tsp basil
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp powdered ginger
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 4 sesame seed burger buns
Mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Asian chili garlic sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
Ketchup
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- ¼ cup tomato ketchup
- ½ tsp fresh lime juice
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
How to Make It
- First, prepare the patties. Using clean hands, combine the egg, beef, onion, breadcrumbs, soy sauce, garlic sauce, lime juice, hoisin sauce, salt, sugar, garlic, basil, black pepper, and ginger in a bowl. Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties. Using your thumb, make an indent in the center of each patty. Chill for 15-20 minutes.
- In the meantime, prepare the mayo. Stir together the Asian sauce and mayonnaise to combine. Chill until ready to use.
- Next, stir together the ketchup ingredients (hoisin sauce, ketchup, lime juice, and soy sauce). Chill until ready to use.
- To prepare the slaw, toss together the carrots and coleslaw mix. Add the soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, lime juice, and sesame oil. Toss again to combine and chill.
- Now cook the patties. Place a skillet over moderately high heat and add the oil. When hot, add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked.
- Place a burger inside each bun, top with a spoonful each of the prepared mayo and ketchup followed by some Asian slaw. Serve straight away.
